VA-10 race breakdown
Virginia's 10th District (Loudoun, Fauquier and Rappahannock counties; parts of Fairfax and Prince William; Manassas) Non-Hispanic Asian residents are about 15.5% of the district (about 127,000 of 820,222, Data USA's 2024 ACS-based profile); 24.8% of residents are foreign-born. These are resident measures, not AAPI citizen voting-age or registered- voter shares. (Data USA).
Competitiveness Solid D: Cook has rated it Solid D since November 18, 2025; PVI D+6. Subramanyam won 2024 by 18,788 votes. The district's land-use flashpoint is data-center and transmission-line sprawl in 'Data Center Alley' (Loudoun County). Local AAPI and other residents cite it most on neighborhood preservation.
Suhas Subramanyam Democrat · Incumbent since 2025
Indian American former Obama White House tech-policy adviser. First South Asian American elected to Virginia's General Assembly (2019); co-founded its first AAPI Caucus (2021). CAPAC member.
Active pro-visa record. Led the May 2025 bipartisan letter urging Secretary Rubio to modernize the "cumbersome" H-1B renewal process. Publicly rejected claims in 2026 that H-1B holders take American jobs. Not a cosponsor of the restrictive End H-1B Visa Abuse Act. Voted YEA on the Laken Riley Act (Jan 2025) and authored H.R. 5007 directing ICE to report on its arrests. No signature visa or green-card bill of his own has advanced (subramanyam.house.gov, May 2025). Rating basis: Supportive skilled-visa advocacy but a contrary Laken Riley detention vote. Same genuine-mixed rule used for Tran, Lee, Schrier andOssoff.
Data-center accountability is a signature issue. In Virginia he introduced SB 191 in January 2024 to examine and address data-center utility-cost subsidies; it was continued to 2025 in the Commerce and Labor Committee. His federal work continued in 2025-26. Introduced H.R. 9372 to set federal standards for measuring data-center electricity and water use, saying communities deserve "full transparency." Introduced a May 2026 bill to protect homes and property near data centers and held town halls on powerline impacts. H.R. 9372 was ordered reported, as amended, by the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee on June 25, 2026, by a 34-1 vote; it has not passed the House. The record is oversight and standards rather than opposition (subramanyam.house.gov, May 2026; VA Dogwood, Jul 2026; E&E News, Jun 2026). Voted Yea on the June 23, 2026 House motion to concur in the amended H.R. 6644 housing bill (Roll Call 224, 358-32). [House vote] Rating basis: Personal data-center cost and siting leadership sustained from state office in 2024 to federal work in 2025-26.
Original cosponsor of the Teaching AANHPI History Act (H.R. 3551) and co-founder of Virginia's first legislative AAPI Caucus. CAPAC member. No record found on TJHSST-style exam-admissions debates (GovTrack).
Not a cosponsor of the Language Access for All Act of 2026 (H.R. 7223); he is absent from the bill's 33-name cosponsor list. The bill responds to the March 2025 English-official executive order. Later joined the National Language Access Month resolution (H.Res. 1148, Apr 2026). No Virginia analog was located from his time in Richmond (GovTrack; GovTrack).
Not in Congress in 2021, so no COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act vote exists. Current record: CAPAC member, 2021 AAPI Caucus co-founder, and an appearance at a "stand with Virginia's AAPI community" anti-hate pledge event. No hate-crime bill sponsored in the 119th Congress. Limited and supportive (GovTrack).
Dave Beckwith Republican
Retired Air Force colonel and former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense. 17-year Loudoun resident and homeschool parent. Previously ran for the Republican nomination in Virginia's 10th District in 2022; won the 2026 primary with 72.5%.
Rated on statements only. In his 2022 iVoterGuide questionnaire, Beckwith answered "Strongly Agree" on physically securing the border and denying funds to sanctuary jurisdictions; his explanatory response backed border-wall funding. On legal immigration: "We have always welcomed legal immigrants... We should protect our neighborhoods, jobs, and resources from all others." No H-1B, green-card or asylum position found; his 2026 profile shows no answers on comparable questions (iVoterGuide).
Rated on statements only. His most distinctive land-use stance is "no powerlines in our backyards." He appeared with neighbors in the Valley North substation fight. His housing platform is market-oriented: a 5% flat tax under $200k, portable mortgages, indexed capital gains "to unlock the housing market." Concrete action on transmission lines; no broader development or zoning record (beckwithforcongress.com, Jul 2026).
Rated on statements only. No AANHPI-curriculum record was found in the checked sources. In his 2022 iVoterGuide questionnaire he "Strongly Disagree[s]" on supporting CRT and "Strongly Agree[s]" that America must "restrict China's access to our technologies and educational institutions," with a parental-rights and school-choice platform; his 2026 profile shows no answers on comparable questions. He has not stated a position against AANHPI curricula (iVoterGuide). [iVoterGuide] His current education platform also calls for federal investment in vocational training and apprenticeships alongside school choice; this is relevant supportive funding evidence, not an AANHPI-curriculum position. [current education platform] Rating basis: Current platform pairs direct federal vocational/apprenticeship investment with school choice. Mixed/limited 3 fits this broader education record. CRT/China-access answers do not establish opposition to AANHPI curricula.
Nothing found supporting or opposing multilingual government services, official-English measures or the Language Access for All Act. His survey contains no language items; his eight platform planks include none.
No statements, bills or survey answers on hate crimes or anti-AAPI violence. His "Safe and Secure Communities" plank is pro-law-enforcement resourcing. Xi Van Fleet, the Chinese American anti-CRT organizer, endorses him (beckwithforcongress.com).
